Kunal Shah has over 22 years’ experience in the field of Indian tax and regulations. He is responsible for working on and developing the various tax and regulatory aspects of Private Equity and Financial Services clients (domestic and foreign).

He has extensive experience of working on fund structuring and transaction structuring across spectrum of clients such a Private Equity funds, Venture Capital funds, Alternative investment Funds (AIFs), GIFT City funds, Buyout funds, Real Estate and Infrastructure funds, Credit and distressed funds, Sovereign Funds, Pension Funds, etc.

Kunal advises clients from the tax and regulatory perspective over the entire life cycle of the funds starting from fund structures, investments and capital structuring, profit repatriation strategies, due diligence, exit related structuring, transaction-related tax negotiation, distribution waterfall, carry structuring, compliances, litigation, regulatory approvals, indemnity, liquidation of funds, etc.

He also advises NBFCs, portfolio managers, stock broking organisations, mutual funds, merchant banks, asset management companies, etc., on tax and regulatory matters. In addition, he works closely with leading financial services players and industry bodies in their representations to policy-makers and tax authorities and advocacy matters.

Kunal is a Commerce graduate and a Chartered Accountant.
